Leuven (Belgium), 6 February 2007 - ServersCheck, the Belgium-based supplier of monitoring software and hardware for ICT, is starting distribution of its products from a base in the United States on February 7. The technology firm is opening a "fulfillment center" in the state of Michigan, with the aim of launching the sensors on the American market and enhancing its position there as a major player in its niche.
The distribution of ServersCheck software and sensors for customers in North America, Asia and South America will be handled from now on by this new logistics centre in the US. The distribution of the software is mainly done electronically, so that was not a consideration that led to the decision to set up the fulfillment center. Maarten Van Laere, CEO at ServersCheck explains: "The distribution of our sensors from Belgium to non-EU countries is something of a problem - due to the weak dollar, import duties and high shipping costs for express deliveries."
Van Laere continues: "Since our competitors are mainly American companies, of course they don't have to pay import duties when they sell within the US. Furthermore, those companies have a cost structure in US dollars and they enjoy relatively low "express" shipping costs. That put us in a weak competitive position both in America and Asia. Via this new strategy, we are finally in a position to offer a solution that is very competitive both in the US and elsewhere."
